Hygiene or oral cleaning

A meticulous dental hygiene is fundamental to prevent diseases and oral infections.

Our dental hygienists will schedule their hygiene trying to adapt to their schedules and dedicate an hour in their dental prophylaxis. Subsequently they will perform a thorough oral examination and instruct you with personalized recommendations for daily oral hygiene.

If after performing the buccal cleaning the assistant discovered a caries previously masked by the bacterial biofilm the hygienist will refer the team of doctors for further treatment.

In the case of having doubts about the condition of some treatment or ancient rehabilitation, the hygienist will notify one of the doctors to supervise the case with some radiography during the same visit.

Bleeding gums

Healthy gums do not bleed. Gingival bleeding is the main sign of active gingivitis (inflammation of the gums).

This bleeding occurs very often during the brushing of the teeth and tends to erroneously stop brushing.

Stop brushing for fear of bleeding aggravates or worsens the situation of your gums may cause gingivitis to evolve to a periodontitis, or what formerly called pyorrhea.

In this way, bacteria that have not been eliminated from the gingival sulcus progress in depth towards the bone support of our teeth and molars, leading to bacterial contamination of this area that will result in a bone resorption and therefore end up producing dental mobility.

At Clínica Lázaro, we carry out an action protocol in which, in the first place, a thorough examination and an accurate diagnosis of why your gums bleed are performed. In certain cases, a microbiological analysis of the bacterial flora of the gingival grooves will be necessary to determine which bacteria are affecting the oral cavity, thus being able to prescribe the specific antibiotic treatment and plan the most appropriate periodontal treatment.

Although sore gums do not seem to be serious, they can make us suspect a problem in our state of health: diabetes, cardiovascular ….

That the gums hurt you can be due to several causes: canker sores, acute gingivitis, inadequate dental hygiene, excessive consumption of alcohol and tobacco, etc.

In Lazaro clinic we will make an exhaustive study of your case to treat it properly.

Loss of bone and gums

Periodontitis is an oral disease with a high genetic component but it is also exacerbated by different risk factors such as smoking and poor hygiene. That is why it is of crucial importance that we can evaluate the degree of severity of periodontitis as soon as possible and thus be able to proceed to the most appropriate treatment, as well as follow our recommendations in order to eliminate the factors that are within your reach to modify and predispose to it. .

In Lázaro Clinic we proceed first with an initial treatment with anti-inflammatory by hygienic and antibiotic treatment and disinfectant if necessary. Later we will evaluate if a second phase of specialized periodontal treatment is necessary.

Loss of gum or gingival retraction?

We will evaluate and diagnose the problem of your gums, there are different causes that can affect your gums, from a too aggressive brushing that together with the clenching of teeth can cause a detachment of the insertion of the gum of the tooth to a severe periodontitis problem that has produced a loss of the bone that is covered with gum.

These are oral problems that we must evaluate and treat differently.

Controls after gum treatments

Once the gingivitis is treated, it must be controlled. It is useless to perform a treatment if its evolution is not subsequently studied and controlled to know if the acute phase has been completely eradicated.

Depending on the type of gingival or periodontal disease, we will recommend the patient to eliminate those risk factors that predispose him to suffer it and that are under our control (ineffective or insufficient dental brushing, tobacco, poor diet, etc.) and for this we will give recommendations and instructions necessary for each case.

It is essential to see a satisfactory result in the long term to perform periodontal maintenance that will be adapted to each patient according to the severity of their gingival or periodontal involvement. These maintenance will consist of visits of deep oral hygiene to maintain the oral cavity in the best state of gingival health. The frequency of these maintenance treatments will be established according to the severity of the affectation of each patient.
